plants by design is a garden and landscape architecture practice based in Yorkshire
With over thirty years experience of designing Chris and Fiona Royffe formed plants bydesign. As a Chartered Landscape Architect and University Lecturer Chris has designed many gardens and landscapes across a variety of scales and situations. The projects illustrated show the scope and range of our work and the importance that we attach to making beautiful and meaningful places.
Gardens and landscapes are both transitory and permanent. They are designed to suit present needs but also to provide a setting for future generations. At plants by design client needs are paramount and project solutions reflect these. We also always acknowledge the broader landscape in which a garden is situated and the temporal dimensions inherent in designing with nature.
Projects cover gardens and landscapes large and small, new and existing. All are developed uniquely in response to client needs giving initial impact and lasting quality. You can see the range of our work by clicking the links above.
Our services include: Design - site survey, initial concepts to detailed design. Planning - environmental impact, heritage aspects and approvals. Implementation - construction, planting, project management.
Through east wing gardens our associate company we can supply plants and garden features and provide a management and garden care service that is directed by Fiona.
We always aim to present design proposals to clients in ways that clearly show the end result that will be achieved when projects are implemented
